  1. Laurie, Your words are so comforting to me. I have felt guilty because a family member has been this way for 25 years! since professing faith, and she does know I am a soft touch, We did finally distance ourself after carrying her for years, and she was offended, calling us ‘apostate’, etc, but she just keeps expecting handouts everywhere she goes and calls it ‘trusting in the lord’. It helps to hear this lesson more than you can know. Thank you

  2. Thank you, Laurie! This is a hard lesson for many of us to take to heart…that fine line between providing what the Lord would want us provide and allowing ourselves to be taken advantage of. I look forward to my Front Porch Fridays! Bless You!

  3. There’s been so many different people that Gods placed in our path & in so many ways for us to help. And we’ve considered it all joy to be able to pass Gods blessings to us on to others. But it did take us a while to understand the very thing you’re saying. And with counsel from our elders, at our church & by looking into His Word we were able to see & understand the very fine line that stands between them relying on us OR them reaching out to God for direction & guidance in ALL areas. When you truly love to help & give it’s very easy to become the “enabler” thereby creating dependency one you rather than our Creator Who knows & has the perfect plan for our lives. And we, ourselves, have experienced that total financial loss that God does allow to happen. Job comes to mind but by faith he continued on. As did we but by understanding, fully, that the first fruits are His & before any moves or decisions are made there is PRAYER asking for His wisdom & guidance. Thanks again Laurie for sharing more of Gods wisdom on being the best servants we can even if the answer is at best, ” No ” but yet given in love. It’s certainly hard for us but I can imagine it may be even harder for Him when His answer is no. Yet we continue on, but always giving Him our best, trusting He will show us the way & He WILL tkae care of us.
