Freedom For Hyper List-Makers (like me)

Woman Writing on Pad of PaperHyper list-making mode. That pretty much describes the first week of my life this year.

I have lists of personal goals, family goals, ministry and work goals, household projects for me, and honey-dos for Bill. Need a list? I can make you one! Girl,  January 1 kicks list-makers like me into overdrive.

But even if you love lists like I do, sometimes they can hurt more than help.

Instead of helping us organize, they overwhelm.

Instead of helping us clarify, they clutter.

Instead of helping us analyze, they paralyze.

And that’s exactly how I felt after one week of hyper list-making mode — until one song set me free.

Yesterday, as we stood in church to sing and as the words appeared upon the screen, I had an epiphany. It was one of those moments when God quickens your spirit and speaks with such clarity that you know with absolute certainty that He picked out that song and those words to speak to your heart that day.

So naturally, I want to share that song with you today. It’s an old Irish hymn sung by Michael Card, one of my long-time favorite Christian artists. But before you click play, would you whisper this prayer?

“Lord,  show me Your list – Your goals and Your vision – for my life this year.”

Amen! Now, go ahead, click play.

Praying for epiphanies and for freedom for all of my hyper list-making sisters,

Laurie-sig-300dpiAre you in hyper list-making mode? If God used that song to speak to your heart and set you free, share a praise, precious sister. I love hearing from  you!

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm. ;0) No thank you mam….I have one sitting here at my left elbow just waiting……I’ve been in my office all day long trying to catch up on emails & this months birthdays have already started so I’m in the process of getting that ready. You & I HAVE to plan in advance because we travel so much. If we didn’t it just simply wouldn’t get done. But then….I KNOW you’ve had those days of “”crossing”" off the list, (even if it wasn’t done), because it was laid on your heart to “forget” it by God. It just wasn’t “His” priority. And even with the “”needed”" list, (I have to write it down —just can’t remeber it all anymore heeheehee), I love being in that area, now, of saying, “Okay Lord, I’ll scratch that one off.” ;0)
